Time for a Change!
My 2015 Unit 1 VCE English class have been exploring how we use language to persuade. Instead of discussing issues I asked them to write an article about an issue they felt strongly about. The idea was to persuade the audience to see their point of view.
Read their first attempts and feel free to comment. We look forward to reading your feedback.
Our VCE Unit 2 English class has a ‘chat’ group every Friday. We sit around a table, with coffee and cake, and discuss issues that have caught our eye in the media during the week. One person each week is responsible for bringing the food for both body and mind.
The aims of this exercise are:
- to develop an awareness of issues in the media;
- to develop our oral communication skills;
- to develop our thinking skills;
- and to develop our understanding of persuasive language.
By creating this blog, and putting our ideas to print, we hope to also develop our writing skills.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the topics we discuss, but you will have to provide your own coffee and cake!
Superb information here, ol’e chap; keep bnuring the midnight oil.
